Back in 5 minutes

Well it might be a bit longer than that.  I am not going to post here again while I get my new site ready.  Once it is ready, I will let you know the new url and feed and all that stuff.  In the meantime, hope you had a nice long weekend (if you had one!) and take care.

I just had an email asking me to moderate the following comment. I *think* it may be spam:

outthwack untraveled pachyhematous oppositiflorous bitterness linnet trunkmaker juletta

Make any sense to you? Why are these people not sucked into hell already for WASTING MY TIME. Now about that essay I should be writing…

GTD? I would like that.

OK. So today I am trying to be good and positive and productive.  My work to-do list is crazy long and my one for the house is not much better:

  • Finish shopping for anniversary present/card/paper etc for Ricardo – it is 5 years on Saturday
  • Sort out Dad’s present – his 60th is on Saturday also!
  • Clean the house.  It is a complete hole.
  • Sort out my craft corner – it is out of hand and no crafting is getting done there.
  • Study, study and more study.  I have to catch up on the reading and start writing my last essay.  I have a day school on 10th May (first one I am attending – I thought it was about time).
  • Work on my new website
  • Tackle the laundry / ironing mountain
  • Pick up dry cleaning ready for the wedding on Sunday (we have had A LOT on lately)
  • Buy some food for us to eat – our cupboards are pretty bare (and a bit grimey… need to clean house pronto)
  • Watch my stories

Phew.  Funny how no amount of reading Lifehacker or Unclutterer actually makes this list go down.  By the way, in case you were wondering what GTD means, read this.

I have changed my theme AGAIN but I promise this is (probably) the last time before the BIG CHANGE coming. As I mentioned before, I am working on a new site but it might be some time before it is ready and the dark background on the last theme I was using got on my nerves. Also? If the bug in the header creeps you out, let me know!!!

New blogs and stuff

10 04 2008

Well I have been spending some time lately trying to decide how to structure my blog(s) going forward as I have a few bits and pieces here which could be updated more often. I have therefore decided to have one MEGA site with 5 (count em – FIVE) blogs split into Journal (ie my dumbass life), Books, Music, Crafts and TV/Movies. I have reserved the domain and started to build the blogs. It will be a while before I will be ready to launch and so in the meantime, this is where else you can find me.

TV stuff
Music stuff
Photos stuff (likely not to change as my phone only works with Blogger)

In other news, we had an escapee chicken in our work yard this afternoon which led to my dad and I plus the teenager from the house from where the chicken escaped running around trying to catch it. I had residual laughter afterwards for nearly 20 minutes. Working in the country sure is different to working in London!

I’ll do this one myself

As you may have guessed from my new music blog‘s title, I count Pearl Jam as one of my all-time favourite bands. As an impressionable teenager, it is Pearl Jam that first introduced me to the fully immersive musical experience. I felt Eddie Vedder’s joy and his pain. Mike McCready’s lead guitar made me hold my breath. Jeff Ament’s bass guitar made my soul shiver. Stone Goddard’s rhythm guitar kept me dancing to the band’s first album Ten for hours at a time. The language here is purposely overwrought because when you are sixteen, every note means something, every lyric speaks to you and you fall in crush with the good-looking, tortured lead singer so hard it makes you feel like you will never know real love. I wore out my MTV Unplugged VHS tape during my first year of university (thank god for YouTube). In fact, that tape along with the 1993 VMAs looked after me during those scary first freshman weeks away from my steady boyfriend, friends and family. I went on to enjoy their subsequent albums and though my love of their new music is not as fervent as it was, no other band can give me a thrill that I get when I hear the opening bars of State of Love and Trust.

So here is song that inspired the blog title and the band that made me a sometimes rock chick.

I know I am slow to catch on to this one but I resisted thinking it looked really stupid until I spent five minutes playing with it and now I am addicted!  Twitter is cool!  So do any of you twitter?  Let me know so I can follow you.  You can follow me here.
